My Time: Generative Adversarial Network Candidate Press

Two books in red and blue, with framed bookshelves of political books.
A close up of bookshelves.
The republican book held open by me, a white person in a denim shirt.
The democrat book held open by me, a white person in a denim shirt.

Political candidates going back to JFK have used publication of books as a way to make a name for themselves. These books are formulaic, explaining their philosophy through their biography. Taking all Republican and Democratic candidates who ran in the last round of open primaries and published a candidate book (2016 for the GOP and 2020 for the Democrats), I trained a machine learning platform called a Generative Adversarial Network to write a generic GOP and a DEM candidate book. Each book began with the same phrase, but what follows is based on what the machine learned from the candidates.
