Ring of Terror

A TV is on the ground, with a pair of boots on top of it. Below it, a yellow block of vinyl and a coiled yellow extension cord frame the piece.

A television sits on the ground, with rattlesnake skin boots sitting on the screen, playing an edited segment of the B movie “Ring of Terror.” The TV is flanked by yellow vinyl and a yellow coiled extension cord, mimicking the pose of a snake, ready to strike.

The film industry needlessly represents the killing of snakes, who largely want to be left alone, not unlike the couple in this piece. This reinforces the narrative that snakes are to be feared, to be killed whenever they are encountered. For me, these representations reflect the threat that the Gadsden Flag implies.
